Hello,
My name is Enrique Torrano.
I have been a resident in the city of Hopkins, Minnesota for more than
a decade, and I'm running for City Council. Let me tell you a little
about myself.
My lovely wife Paula and
I were recently married, and we're both excited by the prospect
of raising our family right here in Hopkins.
I have a Master of Science
degree in Electrical Engineering, with 16 years experience as a
developer, consultant, manager, and university professor. I currently
work as a firmware developer for a medical diagnostic equipment
company.
I'm enjoying my sixth year
on the Board of Directors, including my second term as treasurer of Meadow
Creek Condominiumsthe largest condominium association in the
state of Minnesota.
Although I'm running for public office I do not consider myself a politician. Rather, I am a citizen who cares about the community I live in, and I want to help make it better.
My platform is simple and straightforward:
I want to work ethically, and within the powers
and limitations of the City Council to:
• Increase the standard of living in Hopkins
by preserving, promoting, and enhancing jobs
• Work closely with City personnel to analyze
new ways of reducing costs of City Services
• Avoid surprise assessments later by allocating funds for infrastructure replacement incrementally over time
• Reduce taxes, as I have reduced association
dues as treasurer of Meadow Creek Condominiums
I hope I can count on your vote on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
Sincerely,

Enrique Torrano
